MSW/Master of Arts in Professional Studies (MAPS)

The dual MSW/MAPS program prepares students with the skills and values needed for social work and congregational leadership and ministry. Students in this dual degree program will gain knowledge of professional and ethical practice with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities from person-in-environment and faith-centered approaches. This course plan prepares students for the leadership and development of youth ministry, church administration, pastoral care, social justice ministry, health care, lay ministry, and therapeutic and counseling services in faith-based settings.

Students will earn their Master of Social Work degree from the Brown School and a Master of Arts in Professional Studies from Eden Theological Seminary. The program requires 90 credit units taken over three years.

The Brown School also recognizes up to 9 credit units of courses from Eden Theological Seminary as electives toward an MSW degree (60 credit units).
